What is resilience?
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from difficult times or hardships. The textbook definition says quickly, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. I think it's important when you face hardships and toughness that you face it with positivity and going through it with a mindset of at your own pace.
How can you manage your emotions?
It's important to feel your emotions but not dwell in them because when you dwell in them, you stop yourself from seeing the lesson from that hardship. When you dwell in your emotions, it prevents you from seeing the lesson and the lesson. There's always a lesson in each hardship or hurdle you face in life. So being resilient is something that will actually empower you. It's hard to see it in the moment, but it's actually a strength that you can build if you allow yourself to see it.
How can you build resilience through a growth mindset?
A growth mindset will have you look at a situation, not for what it was, but what it was teaching you. And when you're able to look at situations like that, these are the building blocks that provide you with the strength you need to be powerful and to be resilient. So here's a homework task for you. Has there been a time in your life that you just thought you could never come out of that dark hole, but when you look back on that time, you realise you learned quite a bit from that hardship? Write these things down so many times. We don't realise how strong we are from these difficult times in our lives. Writing it down is a reminder of what you can get through, and that's what builds resilience. These things don't happen by accident. They happen to teach us a lesson if we have the growth mindset and the open heart to see those lessons.
